He revived the practices of mezzotint and pure aquatint, while expanding the expressive power of line in drypoint etching and engraving. Blue plaque, 56 Brook Green Short was elected a trank of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers trankand took a prominent part in conducting its affairs, becoming assessor vice-president in Aquatint with soft-ground etching.
