Everybody Loves Raymond, Cathedral Hockey & Sada Wines
Following the Cathedral hockey team's historic game under the lights at Fenway Park last week, a late night, impromptu "Class of 1982" reunion of sorts took place at Tresca in Boston's North End, owned by former Boston Bruins great and Hockey Hall of Famer Ray Bourque. Seen flanking the Bruins' legend are Dan Paquette, Cathedral head coach Brian Foley, TD Bank's Frank Crinella, Tony Ravosa, Joe Christofori and goalie coach Paul Laviolette. Mr. Ravosa holds a 12-liter bottle of Sada Carpoli that is produced in Tuscany and is one of Panther's premier labels.

Rachel Ray Magazine gives a Shout Out to Vista Hills

In this month's issue of Rachel Ray Magazine, Vista Hills is mentioned as a top desitnation point for a family vacation in Oregon's Willamette Valley. The vineyard is spacious and beautiful, with stunning views and equally stunning wines  with an added bonus of green grass and a pretty pond for kids to enjoy.

F2% Gives a Shout Out to Sada

Winemaker Davide Sada has been in town sharing his spectacular Super Tuscan, "Sada" wines. Last Friday he poured these killer wines at The Urban Grape in Chestnut Hill, MA. Our good friend Justin Ide from F2%.com stopped by to visit with Davide Sada and partake in the tasting.

Check out his great blurb about the evening on his blog below!

New Wines!

"Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the Ark. Professionals built the Titanic." --- unknown

Big Flower Cabernet

A fantastic Cabernet from South Africa by the same producers of our Botanica Chenin Blanc. These grapes are from the world class Banghoek region of Stellenbosch. High altitude viticulture with extreme slopes of 45 degrees at an elevation of 1800 feet demand that these grapes be tended to by hand. This Cab has immense color with enticing aromas of brambles and herbaceous notes. Delicious red berry fruit flavors with light tannins on the finish. The fine structure creates a balance in the wine that will be enjoyed by all.

Matys
We have added both a red and a white of this fabulous South African wine. Exceptionally delicious and economically priced, it is a valuable every day wine.
The white is easy drinking, with refreshing tropical fruit and citrus flavors. Lingering minerality on the palate and a balanced finish make it a superb summer sipper. A perfect wine for enjoying while preparing a meal or simply relaxing, reading a book on the deck.
The red is another easy-drinking wine, with aromas of berries and notes of chocolate as well as undertones of spice. A very fun wine, ideal for backyard BBQs, afternoon picnics or simply sitting on the couch and surfing the "net."
Bergevine Lane
Bergevine Lane upholds the notion that wine can be just as sassy as it is classy. With wine titles that sound more like biker gang names, such as "She-Devil" Syrah and the, " Hugger-Mugger" Rosé, it's hard not to be the life of the party when having one of these bad boys on your person. Even if the party is just you, alone in your house with no cable TV, no new Netflix to watch and... Oh wait, I am totally describing my last Wednesday night.
We brought on a whole bevy of these beauties; so to describe them all would take an entire blog. Have no fear, however, a blog about Bergevine Lane is in production, so stay tuned!
In the meantime, hurry up and grab some "Princess" Syrah or "Calico" white to drink. Do it quickly, you will be a better person for it. Trust me!
Chamonix
Boasting some of the highest planted vineyards in the Cape of South Africa, this picturesque wine farm is located on the eastern mountain slopes of
the bountiful Franschhoek Valley to the north of Cape Town. We chose 4 of these superb wines, the 2009 Chardonnay, 2008 Cabernet, 2008 Pinotage and the 2008 Troika Reserve.

The Chardonnay has ample aromas of tropical fruit, with hints of spice and oatmeal.Medium bodied with rich, complex flavors, it's a delightful Chardonnay.
The Cabernet Sauvignon has an immense nose of black currents, red berries and a cigar box. Ample structure and concentrated, it stands out!
The Pinotage displays a deep, garnet color with complex scents of wild berries, spice and cherries. A long finish that lingers just the right amount of time.
The Troika is a treat! Displaying a deep, ruby, mulberry color and scents that are reminiscent of grandmas kitchen-vanilla, cherry, cinnamon, and other spices. As comforting as it is intriguing.
Haute-Cabriére
The home of  Pierre Jourdan, Haute Cabriére is something unique and decadent. Located in the Franschhoek Wine Valley, the farms core belief that the, "wine is grown not made makes the farms ethos incredibly real and intrinsically human. Wine is more than what is in the bottle and it is considered an exceptionally intimate experience. This seductive conviction is intertwined with the farms ultimate philosophy that wine is bigger than one, it's the combination of four factors: Sun, Soil, Vine, Man." - www.cabriere.co.za/
Knowing the human spirit and pride put towards the making of these wines, we are very proud to be able to now share them with all of you.
The 2010 Chardonnay/Pinot Noir  is refined and elegant.

A blend of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir, there is an abundance of zesty, ripe fruit and delectable, chewy mouthfeel. Highly versatile, it pairs well with anything from tilapia tacos to truffle pate and a warm French baguette.
Botanica

This is a beautiful Chenin Blanc from South Africa. The grapes come from a vineyard high in the mountains of Clanwilliam, 25 miles from the sea at 1600ft elevation. Dry farmed, the wine has very concentrated mineral flavors, with an apricot nose. A truly lovely wine that is fabulous to enjoy year round with cheese, fresh fruits, fish or all by itself.

This wine received 5 stars from John Platter's Guide-2011 Edition
92 Points- Steve Tanzer rated the 2009 Chenin in the March/April Issue

TaDa for Sada!
The Urban Grape in Boston stocks up on our "Super Tuscans."

From Left: Noah&Heath, Urban Grape employees, Tony Ravosa, co-owner Panther Distributing
The Urban Grape in Chestnut Hill knows a good thing when they taste it and our Sada wines are no exception! The Urban Grape became the first wine shop in the Commonwealth to stock Sada, and it's flying off their shelves. We couldn't be more proud. The first cases of Sada were delivered on the day of the Bruins Stanley Cup victory parade in downtown Boston.
A lot to celebrate in and around the Hub that glorious day!
These "Super Tuscans" are super delicious, so head on over to The Urban Grape for a sample taste.
